Crosspreg® is a factory-made reactive structural prepreg based on a proprietary hybrid epoxy resin. Over its Tg, it works as a thermoplastic composite and is easily recycled at the end of life, representing a solvent free, property patented, very innovative solution.
It is stable and solid at RT with no pot life limits and transportation issues. It is easy to apply and especially designed for rapid (a few minutes) isothermal press moulding transformation technology.
While molten, Crosspreg® shows an extremely low viscosity, about 10 times lower than any other solvent based resin, capable to capillary impregnate the reinforcing fabrics, without high pressures need. A perfect capillary impregnation translates in no humidity/water pickup.
Crosspreg® can be carbon, glass, basalt, aramid, polyester or natural fibre-based (e.g. linen/hemp/cotton/bamboo). In the curing phase, its surface can be modified thermoplastic to allow perfect adhesion when further thermoplastic over-injection is required.
Crosspreg® is supplied industrially as coiled laminate, at current max width of 1300mm. Larger width can be made possible in case of Project needs. Learn more about Circular Recycling.
The great capacity to generate isothermal continuous processes is the main Crosspreg characteristic; in addition to its short consolidation time, in terms of few minutes, it allows low energy consumes. The cost of the mould/object, given the high productive seriality who can hit 80K units/y, is minimal.
Crosspreg® represents the Crossfire green answer to the traditional steel technology, who calls for high energy consumes from the Raw Material making up to the parts EoL. Furthermore, steel is isotrope while, Crosspreg® can be designed at any anisotropy level and maximize Lightweight according to FEM simulations.
